Properties in Portocolom – Jewel of the East Coast

Portocolom captivates with the largest natural harbor on the island, which is ideally suited for boat enthusiasts. The boats moored here are diverse, ranging from yachts to the traditional Mallorcan "Llauts." The harbor, located in a sheltered bay, offers an astonishing sight. Alongside the boats, you'll also find boathouses and a lighthouse. Today, about 3,600 people live in the town.

Due to the limited swimming opportunities, the town has not developed into a tourist hotspot and has remained untouched by mass tourism. Portocolom still retains the characteristic features of a typical fishing village that represents the original Mallorca.

    Buying Properties in Portocolom

Charming pastel-colored houses and the wonderful views create a tranquil atmosphere, regardless of the season. The villas in the first line of the sea offer a fantastic location and the significant advantage that few tourists venture here. You can acquire a few properties for under 150,000 euros. The existing inner-town properties are significantly more expensive compared to neighboring coastal towns, primarily due to the greater variety of historical buildings and designer villas. The houses here range in price from 400,000 to 12 million euros.

In short, this fishing village offers you a wide selection of different properties and is the ideal refuge if you are seeking peace and quiet.

    The beaches around Portocolom

Although there are only a few beaches in Portocolom, the most popular beach in the area is S’Arenal. This beach is sheltered from the wind with a wonderful view of the natural harbor of Portocolom. Additionally, it is not very large and a bit hidden, so you won't encounter large crowds. The beach is designed to be accessible, so even wheelchair users can enjoy it without any problems. At the upper part of the bay, you'll find a lovingly arranged bar with a terrace. Only in the southern part of Portocolom has a tourist infrastructure developed. The Cala Marcal district offers various hotels and apartments, and the sandy beach of the same name, Cala Marcal, is located here. This beach is the largest sandy beach in Portocolom. The bay impresses with its very fine sandy beach, a great beach bar, and turquoise water. The view of the rocky coast is also breathtaking. Unlike S’Arenal beach, you will encounter many people here, especially in the front part of the beach. If you prefer fewer people around, you can retreat to the back part of the beach.

    Winter in Portocolom

In the winter months, many places become quieter, almost deserted, but not in Portocolom. Unlike the larger holiday resort of Cala d’Or, you can enjoy plenty of activities and carefree living all year round in Portocolom. Palma is a bit further away, but the town of Felanitx is quickly accessible. The residents are a mix of expatriates, including many Germans who winter or live here, and locals. This mix includes artists and craftsmen. Even outside the peak season, many hikers and bikers come to Portocolom.
